A second-generation family business owner

When my father suddenly died in February 2011, I became the Executor of his estate, Power of Attorney for my mother and Managing General Partner for the family commercial real estate business in Tennessee, which was still reeling from the 2008 recession.

Over the past decade, I’ve dealt with financing, lawsuits and property issues on the business side, to the family issues of change in ownership and working with my sister to take care of our mother until she died – all while being a solo parent, dealing with health issues, and continuing my own company 200 miles away in Atlanta.

So I have an idea of how you might be feeling.

A background in corporate development

At both The Coca-Cola Company and BOC Health Care, I built leadership development systems and led teams through planning, process redesign, and organizational change. And I’ve since been an Executive Coach to 150+ senior leaders.

about

A professional relationship rebuilder

Family businesses can fall apart when people with strong opinions clash. But however bad it’s gotten for yours, I can help repair things.

I specialize in steering disparate points of view towards thoughtful and respectful conversations, which almost always result in productive plans.

Outside of Work

I’m a founding board member of City Cares of America, a mentor for StartMe @ Emory University since 2019, and a volunteer staff member at Atlanta Hospice Camp Stars since 2017.

" I enjoy supporting and encouraging people at major points of transition in their lives. I provided meals to our tireless health care workers during the pandemic, and helped my neighbors out with childcare when the schools and day care centers were closed - the kids in the neighborhood know me as “Aunt Jen”.

And then in whatever free time is left, I like working in my garden, cycling, hiking, hanging out with friends and family, and exploring new places and cultures.
